Title: Enabling IIoT with Wi-Fi 6

Speaker: Anton Karamyshev, IITP RAS, MIPT

Abstract: Industrial Internet of Things applications require low and deterministic delays, which is a challenging target for emerging wireless communication technologies. While the upcoming Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 8, tailored for real-time and reliable communications, are under development, capabilities of the current Wi-Fi 6 can already be exploited to support industrial applications.
The talk summarizes key lessons learned during an industrial project on factory automation with Wi-Fi 6, describes and advocates a solution that satisfies quality of service requirements in industrial scenarios. The presented solution promises to more than double the network capacity compared with the default Wi-Fi 6 implementation in terms of the number of stations served with low and deterministic packet delivery delays.
The talk is based on the recent publication: A. Karamyshev, M. Liubogoshchev, A. Lyakhov, and E. Khorov «Enabling Industrial Internet of Things With Wi-Fi 6: An Automated Factory Case Study» in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, a first-quartile journal.

Bio: Anton received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in applied mathematics and physics in 2021 and 2023, respectively, from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow, Russia, where he is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications.
He is a Researcher with the Wireless Networks Laboratory, Institute for Information Transmission Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, and a Voting Member of IEEE 802.11. His research interests include the future wireless networks, namely, 5G/6G and state-of-the-art Wi-Fi, applied to URLLC and industrial scenarios.
