Title: Low-Incoherence Reference Signals Design, Multiplexing and Channel Estimation Algorithms for MIMO Systems
Speaker: Semyon Dorokhin, MIPT
Abstract: One of the trends towards 6G is the increase of the bandwidth, as well as the number of Base Station and User Equipment antenna elements. As the sizes of OFDM MIMO channel grow, the channel estimation overhead increases as well, becoming too large for practical applications. Existing overhead reduction methods fuse reference signal transmission and channel parameters estimation into one problem. As a result, algorithm and model-specific constraints are imposed on the reference signal structure, which leads to backward compatibility issues. This talk presents the results of the Ph.D thesis which is build around the idea of estimating channel tensor elements and completing the partially measured tensor as two (almost) independent stages. The main results of the thesis establish a link between compressed sensing and tensor completion, resolving implementation issues that arise as these methods are applied to reduce channel estimation overhead.

Bio: Semyon Dorokhin received Bachelor (2019) and Masters (2021) degrees with honor from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He is currently working towards a Ph.D. degree in the area of telecommunications and applied linear algebra under the supervision of Vladimir Lyashev. Semyon’s research interests include MIMO systems, tensor decompositions, compressed sensing and applied harmonic analysis
