Evgeny Khorov joins RSF expert council

Evgeny Khorov, head of the Wireless Networks Lab, has become a member of the RSF Expert Council for Young Scientists’ Projects. RSF expert councils are responsible for evaluating and selecting scientific projects submitted for competitions. They monitor the validity of comments in the received expert assessments and formulate final recommendations for the support of projects by the Foundation’s board.

The Expert Council for Young Scientists’ Projects will carry review of projects submitted to the following competitions:

  • Research initiated by young scientists;
  • Research by youth research groups;
  • Research by youth research groups at a high-tech enterprise.
  • Expert Council for Regional Programs

Traditionally, council members were selected based on a rating vote among the heads of supported projects.

Evgeny Khorov has extensive experience in supervising grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the RSF; he has also led dozens of industrial projects. For several years, he has been an RSF expert. Evgeny’s colleagues note his integrity and exactingness in matters of the quality and level of scientific research, which will be very useful to him in his new role. We wish him success!

Evgeny Khorov, DSc, is a leading researcher and head of the Wireless Networks and the Laboratory of Telecommunication Systems at the National Research University Higher School of Economics. He is also a Deputy Chair and Full Professor at MIPT. His main research interests are related to 5G/6G systems, next-generation Wi-Fi, Wireless Internet of Things, and QoS-aware optimization. Being a voting member of IEEE 802.11, he contributed to the Wi-Fi 6 standard and initiated support for real-time applications, one of the key improvements of Wi-Fi 7. He has authored over 200 papers, which received several Best Paper Awards. He has also received national and international awards, including the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology (for young scientists) and the Scopus Award Russia. Evgeny Khorov gives tutorials and participates in panels at large IEEE events. He chaired TPC of various IEEE and IETF conferences and workshops. In 2020, he was awarded as the Editor of the year of Ad Hoc Networks. Since 2024 he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Problems of Information Transmission. He is a member of the Telecommunication Scientific Council of RAS.
